Free template – Make a birthday bunny card!

I thought I’d share a birthday card idea I made for my mum – I can share it today though I made it a little while ago to send it, but it’s her birthday today so it won’t spoil the surprise when she sees this! Happy Birthday Mum!
She loves rabbits and has four cuties of her own, and I was inspired by one of them in particular, called Molly, to make this card for her special day.

I used one of the gorgeous ribbon flower embellishments and layered it on to one of the die cut shapes both from the free gift with PaperCraft inspirations issue 77. (Click here to see our fab video on making these embellishments!) I’m addicted to making these pretty treats for loads of my cards now!
So I set my bloom growing up from a field of textured paper grass and made this cute bunny by paper piecing. Find the free template for her here!

I ‘distressed’ the edges of the card shapes with a nail file, as I was building my bunny, to get more of a furry effect and used sticky foam pads for dimension under her paws and ear, and then when mounting her on to the card.

A punched butterfly (this Martha Stewart punch is one of my favourites right now! Look for it at Personal Impressions stockists) and pearl gem finishes it off a treat, I hope you’ll agree. And I hope my mum loves it too!

Meanwhile, the big question is.... Do you think it’s a good likeness for Molly?! (Thanks to my mum for this photo.)
